Today marks the first day of 'Davey D's Freestyle Tournamnet For Internet Supremacy'. More then 60 internet freestylers entered into the battle to compete for a host of prizes which include a cd box set of Tommy Boy's Greatest Hits and 50 US dollars. In addition the winner will have the Freestyle Board named after him... and that name will remain in place until the next tournament..

The way the way the Freestyle Tournament will go down is as follows. Contestants will have until midnight Wednesday December 16th to submit their dopest verse... It should be no more then 32 lines.. The verses will be judged by the Infamous Ryhme Commission. Each contestant will be ranked on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the highest grade.. Everyone who scores higher then 7 points will move onto Round #2... At that point contestants will again submit their dopest verses. These verses will again be no longer than 32 lines...

In Round #2, the Rhyme Commision will issue a rank from 1-10...Their collective vote will be balanced with ratings from 1-10 from individuals visiting the freestyle board. It it'll be one name per vote. An average of those numbers will be taken and added to the rating issued by the Rhyme Commision. So in other words let's say a freestyler named Battle Man has 12 people rate his performance.. An average will be taken from those ratings.. Let's say it's 7.6.. That number will be added to a rating from the Rhyme Commission which in this case might be 8.. Hence his final score will be 15.6... The top 16 ranked freestylers will then be paired up and set to battle in Round #3...

In Round #3.... The judging will take place by people visting the freestyle board and choosing a winer from each battle... This will rule remain in effect until the final round. Again the rule of one name one vote will apply. Now for folks who don't know we have gathered an esteemed panel of judges who make up the Infamous Rhyme Commission.. Every one of the judges is deeply involved in the Music Biz... and many themselves are veteran freestylers.. The Rhyme Commission consists of the following individuals who will be reading and judging rhymes:

DOMINO-He is the manager and dj for the Heiroglyphics which consists of Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Souls Of Mischief, Casual and Pep Love.

BOOTS-Lead rapper for The Coup. They have just dropped an album entitled 'Steal This Album'.. Boots is well known throughout the Bay Area for his political activism.

THE BISHOP-A well known hip hop journalist who has written articles for every major hip hop publication ranging from The Source, Strength Rap Pages. In addition The Bishop is an artist himself and he heads up Shinken Entertainment which is a management company.

DABRI-founder of Ill Crew Universal which is an internet hip hop collective which boosts close to 15 thousand members world wide. Thus far Ill Crew has released 4 albums featuring emcees who have come off the internet. They are working on their 5th album. Dabri is also responsible for mastering and doing digital production for numerous Bay Area artists...

ILL TRENDZ- If you ever need to get your record promoted in the Bay Area. Ill Trendz is your company and Big Sean Kennedy is your man. These kids is from the streets and they seriously work the streets. In addition to putting up the prize money for this Freestyle Contest, Sean himself is an artist. He rolls with a group called The Dungeon Squad and they've just dropped a single called Flammable Material.. Also hanging with Sean on the judging tip is his boy Todd aka Beats from the group BLACK [Beats Lyrics & Conscious Knowledge].. They've just dropped their new song entitled 'People's Delight'

LEE HUBBARD-A hip hop journalist who regularly covers the scene for local newspapers including The San Francisco Bayview, His articles have also been featured in The SF Chronicle, Oakland Tribune SF Bay Guardian and The Source Magazine..among others. In addition he is part of the Hip Hop Think Tank and a regular contributer to The Friday Night Vibe Newsletter.

DJ FEAR-Veteran dj and producer for the group No Concept. He is also the owner of Bedroom Records and a well known producer here in the Bay Area.. No Concept has put out several records.. including the infamous 'Homie The Clown'. Fear is a brothjer who was on the net talking about hip hop long before most kids...

LIL JON-We call him the whiz kid.. In addition to being a long time internet freestyle junkie. He is also on radio where he does a hip hop show over at San Jose State University. He also does production over at commercial station 106 KMEL in San Francisco..
